I usually just plug it in at the end of the day so it's topped off for the next ride. It does take a while to recharge, several hours easy.
Chatterbox blue tooth Bluetooth#
When positioned right, the mic works well and it's easy to understand other riders.īATTERY: I almost always have music playing via Bluetooth from my phone, and the battery easily lasts 12+ hours. The voice activation is improved over the original X1 and works pretty well, but I usually find myself turning it all the way down and using the push to talk button. HEADSET:The speakers in the headset are decent, plenty loud but not much bass/low end. I also use it in the summer on my motorcycle and the range is noticeably better without trees/terrain, 2+ miles is pretty realistic. RANGE: For snowmobiling, where there are lots of trees and terrain, we see about a mile of range in real world use. My riding buddies have either X1 slims or the newer X2. I had the original X1 before this, but have not tried any other brands so I don't have much to compare it to.

I've used the X1 slim for a few years now and will share my thoughts/experience. We have spent so much time testing units, this is it for us, so they had better work as promised! If they are, great, and if not there's an adapter we can use that will allow us to use any speakers with 3.5mm jack. My only concern is if the speakers will be good. I'm pretty sure they will work well for us. We ordered up two Chatterbox x 1 slim units and should be able to test them next week depending on how long shipping takes. We felt we exhausted all of the bluetooth communicators due to lack of range and had go back to radio frequency.

It promises to have a clean bluetooth interface, and long range of communication, good VOX and internalLi battery. We spoke to several retailers and to riders who used them. The best model for riding is their Chatterbox X 1 slim. We spoke to Chatterbox directly, they always answered the phone and our questions. The Oxygens are very comparable with the boom mics or wired mics so it was a lot easier to find a brand that would work for us. It's really important for us to keep in touch for safety reasons- oncoming sleds, hazards in the trail, or just to let the other know I'm stopping for a minute to take a picture. Last year we rode 4000Km in 13 days in new areas. My husband and I take at least one long trip every year. We went back to step one, and while the chatterbox communicaors are not sleek and sexy like the Sena and Cardo units, they promise excellent communication range. We loved the improved sound quality of their speakers and the voice activation controls, but the range was really poor, essentially just line of sight. We were able to test several bluetooth and mesh units from both Sena and Cardo. We really wanted to try a newer more advanced communicator. We purchased the new Oxygen helmets for this year, and the new mics for the Oxygen from Collett are hideous, and impratical not to mention $50 each. We rode with BV2S helmets and the mics would often freeze up and sound garbled. The battery was a hassle to keep in a jacket pocket. I actually ordered a new unit 3 years ago to see it it worked better but it arrived defective so I just returned it. This did not happen when we used the audio wire. Our biggest complaint was when we streamed music via bluetooth from any source in any unit we would get an annoying background buzz. We find they really have not improved on their technology with the times.

We've been using Collett Communicators for about 12 years now.
